Mentor: Emilie Doyle
Due to my co-operating
teacher being out, I took charge of the class. Before calling out the role for
that class, I instructed the pupils to take out their homework which was to
bring in a primary source. After calling out the role, I noticed some students
didn’t a primary source with them. I gently but firmly told them that I
understood that they were still getting used to the school, however they had to
remember any homework given to them whether it be a drawing or picking out an
object. Those who did not have an object picked items such as teapots, lamps
and wine bottles from the bottom of the room.
They began the class with
continuous line drawing. They were instructed to draw 3 continuous line drawings and to pick their favourite
one. They then traced their favourite one. After the class I photocopied them
for the next class, they will be doing continuous line drawing using string. I
showed an example of a continuous line drawing using string that I had done
previously. I then asked them what they noticed about the drawing, how they
thought it worked and what could they lean from this drawing. For the rest of
the class, the pupils were introduced to contour line. This included a
PowerPoint and visual examples so that could understand what contour line meant
and how they themselves could implement it. Some pupils are a bit overeager in
regards to drawing. Adding shading to there drawings rather than the lines with
various pressure applied. I made sure to repeat the important things to
remember of what is involved with contour line and how it is similar to the
continuous line.
