Class: 1Art – 1.2
Time: 09:00 – 11:40         (double period)
Date:  10/09/18
School: Coláiste Choilm
Mentor: Mary O’Mahony

The class began with the co-operating teacher getting the class to recall what had been done in the previous class. The class answered what they had done and she left the photocopies of the blown up blind drawings for the students to collect. The co-operating teacher then explained that today that they were going to be transferring their drawing onto a sheet in their sketchbooks Two pupils, who were absent, from last week’s class had to catch up with the rest of the class. I explained what had been done last week i.e. the blind drawings and the tracing of the blind drawing of choice of the pupils. The rest of the class, once they had received their blind drawings drew a frame around the photocopy as close to the drawing as possible. They then turned the drawing around (blind drawing facing away from the pupil) and proceeded to “scribble” the back of the drawing with the 6B pencil, covering the area in an even covering of lead from the pencil. Then they turn the page back around and tape it to a sheet in their sketchbook. Using a 2B pencil they trace the lines of their drawing and that will transfer the drawing to the paper. Some pupils had difficulties with this one, as they had never done it before and were unsure how it would work. Following that they painted their drawings. Using the colour as blocks rather than “colouring it in”. The pupils were very engaged with this class they were attentive and enthusiastic. They were experiencing a new method of art making that they previously had not done before.
